Vacation in San Juan, Peurto Rico

Jason got a two week leave before the deployment and was needing some R&R. Michelle was getting ready to graduate from High School and was having a difficult time accepting the fact that after having finally met her brother, he was going to spend the next 15 months at war in Iraq. I asked Jason if he thought it would be a good idea to invite Michelle to join us for a couple of days on the beach somewhere in the Caribbean. He thought that was a great idea. So Kenny and I took Jason and Michelle to spend a couple of days on the beach in San Juan. The weather wasn't exactly what we were hoping for but we had a lot of fun inspite of the grey days. The sun finally came out on our last day there. Here are a couple of pics of our stay.

Look What's on Michelle's Back

Michelle kept teasing Jason because he was wearing a T-shirt that had bird droppings on the back. Jason didn't seem to care...no big deal he says! Kenny tells Michelle...Jason's not the only one wearing bird droppings on the back of his shirt. :-)
She's checking it out, and guess what! It may not have been a big deal to Jason, but it sure was a big deal to Michelle. Yuk! Kenny enjoyed her reaction. We all laughed at that one! Not only was Michelle freaking out because Jason thought nothing of bringing half the sand from the beach into the shower, or rinsing the sand down the drain, or changing his T-shirt just because it had bird doo doo on the back; but now she had to deal with the dirty shirt detail herself. She was such a good sport though.

Eating, drinking and shopping on the grey days

Don't you know, the day we had to pack up and return home the sun comes out and the skies turned blue!

I had the pleasure of meeting the guys Jason is spending the next 15 months with when I went to pick up his truck one week before he deployed. I met each of these guys parents that night as well. Their parents should be very proud of their sons. They are all highly skilled and brave young soldiers. Please keep these brave men in your prayers.
